A New Chapter Begins.

After more than 25 years at Kohlenmarkt, HA TIEN in Regensburg is entering a new chapter. From May 2026, you’ll find us at Drei-Mohren-Straße 1 – just 350 meters away, but with more space, more calm, and new possibilities.

For many, HA TIEN is simply a restaurant. For us, it has always been something more – a place that grew over time through encounters, routines, and countless small moments that can’t be planned, and are therefore remembered.

Since 2001, HA TIEN has been part of Regensburg’s city center. Many of you have been coming to us for years, some for over two decades. Some first visited as children – and now return with their own families. Maybe you always sat at the same table. Maybe at some point you didn’t even have to order anymore. Maybe a single glance was enough – and we already knew what you wanted.

Over time, this is how something more than a restaurant is created. A sense of familiarity. You don’t just come for the food. You come back to a place you know – and where you are known.

That is what has defined HA TIEN all these years.

A farewell that isn’t easy

After so many years, you don’t simply leave a place behind. Kohlenmarkt has been our everyday life, our routine, our foundation. We know every corner, every process, every small detail. And chances are, you know it just as well.

There will be moments when you instinctively walk here again. Moments when you pause for a second – and realize that something has changed. That is why this step doesn’t feel small, even if it’s only a few minutes away.

This move is not by choice. The building at Kohlenmarkt has been sold and will undergo a complete renovation. But early on, one thing was clear to us: HA TIEN does not end here. Stopping was never an option.

Instead, we chose to see this moment as an opportunity – not to change everything, but to give what has grown over the years a new and more fitting setting.

Thank you to all our guests who have been part of this journey. Thank you to our regulars who kept coming back – some for more than 20 years. Thank you to everyone who made HA TIEN part of their everyday life, who brought friends, celebrated special occasions with us, or simply stopped by because it felt familiar.

And thank you to our neighbors at Kohlenmarkt, who have also shaped this place over the years.

Without this connection, HA TIEN would not be what it is today.

Still in the heart of Regensburg’s old town, just 350 meters from our current location. We remain exactly where we belong – in the center of the city, close to our guests and everything that has shaped HA TIEN over the years.

And yet, this step is bigger than the distance suggests. Because we’re not just changing location – we’re changing the environment in which HA TIEN will continue to grow.

What remains is everything that defines HA TIEN.

Our team stays. Our cuisine stays. Our mindset stays. The people who have shaped HA TIEN – and who many of you have known for years – will remain part of it.

The new HA TIEN

With the new location, HA TIEN becomes the largest it has ever been. Not as a break from the past, but as a conscious evolution.

• Reservations available for the first time

Our cuisine remains what you know: familiar, authentic, and shaped by the identity HA TIEN has built in Regensburg over the years. At the same time, we are expanding – not replacing, but adding.

New to HA TIEN: sushi, cocktails, and wine. Wok and curry remain an essential part of our menu. For the first time, we will also be serving beer from Kuchlbauer Brewery.

This is not about leaving something behind. It’s about carrying it forward – with more possibilities, more space, and more calm.

A new setting

The new location is not simply a larger restaurant. It is a space that has been rethought from the ground up.

More distance between tables. More calm in the room. More quality of stay. A place that reflects what HA TIEN has become over the years.

We want guests to remember not only the food, but the overall experience – the atmosphere, the feeling of staying longer, and the sense that something familiar remains, while everything else finally feels just right.

It may feel different at first. That’s natural. But we are certain it will quickly feel familiar again – just more open, more relaxed, and more complete.

What stays – and what evolves

Because the location changes, one thing matters most: HA TIEN remains the same at its core.

What stays is our cuisine, our hospitality, our team, and our approach to welcoming guests.

What evolves is the space we have to do it. The size, the possibilities, reservations, a larger outdoor area, and an expanded concept including sushi, cocktails, and wine.

Our story continues

The story of HA TIEN did not begin at Kohlenmarkt. It goes further back – to a family history with roots in Hanoi, passed down through generations. Since 2001, that story has been part of Regensburg.

That is why this move is more than a logistical decision. It marks the transition from one defining chapter to the next – a step that became necessary, and at the same time an opportunity to continue what has grown over many years.
