Our sustainable packaging
The many restrictions due to the coronavirus are slowly easing, and everyday life is increasingly returning. However, since our restaurant is too small for on-site dining due to the required social distancing measures, we at HA TIEN are currently continuing to offer primarily takeout dishes. However, we are working hard to be allowed to use our outdoor area in front of the restaurant for dining, because what could be better than enjoying the finest Southeast Asian cuisine right under the bright summer sun? 😍
Sustainability is very important to us at HA TIEN, and since takeout means having to wrap all our dishes, we strive to make our packaging as environmentally friendly as possible. We've created an overview of the materials we use and why. 🥰
For our sauce dishes, we use meal bowls and lids made of polypropylene (PP). This is a thermoplastic polymer produced without harmful plasticizers and does not release any harmful substances into food or liquids. PP packaging is dishwasher-safe, microwave-safe, and BPA-free. All PP materials are almost entirely recyclable, which is why it is also called bioplastic and therefore sustainable. For our salad bowls, we use the particularly environmentally friendly material made from sugarcane, which is biodegradable, and PP for the lids. 🌱
We package our finger food appetizers in cardboard packaging. This is plant-based paper or cellulose, which is 100% biodegradable and can be disposed of with organic waste. For our fried dishes and soups, we use cardboard boxes with a PLA coating made from renewable resources, which guarantees stable yet environmentally friendly packaging. ♻️
We experimented with different materials for a long time and ultimately settled on this sustainable packaging because it produced the best results and allowed us to package our food with consistent quality. 🙌
For organizational reasons, we continue to use plastic bags for orders, which also keep them warm longer than paper bags. If you would like a paper bag, please indicate this when ordering. 🙏
