HA TIEN x Vytal: Digital reusable system

A week ago, we introduced a deposit system with reusable bowls from REBOWL for HA TIEN to avoid environmentally harmful single-use packaging and protect the environment. 🙌

And your response was tremendous! Our entire stock of reusable packaging was sold on the very first day. We're really pleased about that, as it means that environmental protection and waste reduction are just as important to you as they are to us, and that we can all take great strides together in terms of sustainability and recycling. 💚

However, introducing a completely new (deposit) system always comes with its fair share of teething issues, requiring repeated evaluations, changes, and improvements until a system is fully operational. One of these improvements, which we decided on after considerable consideration and discussion, is the switch from REBOWL to the reusable system from the startup VYTAL. 😍

There are several reasons for this switch. The biggest problem for us with REBOWL bowls was that our entire stock was sold out on the first day. Unfortunately, REBOWL stopped delivering any new bowls, stating that they were currently out of stock nationwide. Furthermore, the reusable bowls that had already been issued rarely found their way back to us, which meant we were "forced" to issue disposable packaging for your orders again on the very first day. And that, of course, is not at all in the spirit of environmental protection and sustainability. 🤯

That's how we came across VYTAL, a startup that offers an equally efficient deposit system in Munich, Cologne, Hamburg, Berlin, and other cities, with one small but crucial difference: You don't pay a deposit! Instead, you download the VYTAL app (iOS and Android) to your phone, and after registering for free and providing your payment details, a personalized QR code is generated. 👏

All VYTAL bowls also feature a QR code sticker. When you order your delicious lunch or dinner at HA TIEN, we scan your personal code on your smartphone and the code on the bowl, and it will be added to your account – completely free of charge, of course. You then have 14 days to return the reusable bowl to us or one of our VYTAL partners. Only after these 14 days will a fee of €10 be charged, and the reusable bowl will then be considered purchased. 🔥

The VYTAL app conveniently features a countdown to when you can return your bowl, and you'll be reminded in good time. If you don't have an app-enabled phone, you can also get an offline card with a QR code for a fee of €10, which will give you a reusable bowl. 📱

With our new digital reusable solution, we hope to increase the cycle time for reusable bowls, allowing them to be used as often as possible. After just 200 uses, around 20 kilograms of CO2 will be saved – per bowl! And with the app, you can completely avoid the endless back-and-forth of the deposit fee, as long as you observe the generous return period of 14 days. You can even get up to 8 reusable bowls at once via the app! 💯
